Academic Coaching at Grand International Academy (GIA) exists to address the holistic needs of postgraduate students that impact their academic success. Academic Coaches helps students assess where they are now and articulate where they want to be going forward. Coaches help students identify their best next actions steps and how to connect those steps with their long-term goals and core values. Academic Coaching empowers students to engage intellectually, leverage curiosity, and explore creative solutions to their own unique challenges.
Students participating in Academic Coaching will:

- Adopt self-directed behaviors that develop accountability and a mindset allowing for decisive action
- Identify actionable next steps congruent with their long-term goals and core values
- Feel empowered and equipped to effectively manage future challenges
- Foster a sense of belonging and understand the unique value they bring to the community

At GIA, we provide you with the necessary assistance and guidance so that your postgraduate journey is more rewarding and productive. Our Academic Coach will engage you in an understanding conversation that elicits your own insights and builds on your strengths. We will also offer effective suggestions for you to try.
If you would like to meet regularly with a coach, we can help you build your new insights and strategies into habitual ways of thinking and approaching your work.
These one-on-one sessions enable students to:

- Develop individualized study habits, test-taking skills, and plans for assignments
- Enhance broader academic skills including time management, course selection, and much more
- Discuss and explore self-care and wellness strategies that will help them to stay healthy
- Discuss academic choices such as concentration selection, working with an advisor and faculty members
- Reflect upon their academic goals, personal aspirations, and values as they relate to their academic experience
- Stay motivated and focused on their academic and extracurricular activities
What can I expect in my academic coaching session?
Academic coaching is designed to give you space for a conversation that will help move you forward with your goals and ambitions. Because it is focused on your needs and goals, the coaching appointment will be driven by you.
Before your first appointment, you must complete the Academic Coaching Survey. In the first appointment, your responses will be discussed.
